Mikael Ericsson presents Dark Honeymoon

Over the past few years I have worked on a series of large-format video installations. A mobile projector has enabled audiences to follow a sequence of animations projected onto the walls and floor. My latest work, Dark Honeymoon, was exhibited at Eskilstuna Museum of Art in Sweden 2009.

I got the title from a road trip I made in Europe with a friend; a trip where everything went wrong from the start and then went from bad to worse. First of all the car broke down, we were robbed and on one occasion we nearly drowned. When all our equipment fell overboard I knew the the trip was over.

This videoinstallation is about a bad chain of events. A journey through a world that is literally falling apart. A civilization that has reached the world's end and is tumbling down a steep slope. In this new world order, mystical creatures arise as gravity dissolves and comes to an end.
